For a second straight winter, senior Bennett Cavallo was pivotal to the Colts’ success in the lanes.
With a team-leading scoring average of 194.30 and CBA’s highest game score of 248, Cavallo is the CBADN’s Player of the Season award for the second consecutive year.
“Going into this year, I wasn’t expecting to win the award again,” he explained. “The team had a really good year overall, so it was pretty awesome.”
Cavallo’s dominance propelled the Colts to a 16-2 overall record, along with a perfect record in the Shore Conference. It was on display in the team’s second matchup against Keyport. He averaged a score of 234.67 among the three games he bowled, with his highest score of 243 in the third game. He was a key player in CBA’s 3-0 victory.
“Another outstanding year for our captain, Bennett Cavallo,” head coach Pat Reynolds said. “He led the Colts to an impressive 16–2 season, even recruiting a few friends to help the squad continue its success, while capturing the A-North title in a new division and a new home alley. Bennett leads by example and has truly been a pleasure to coach.”
Bowling was not Bennett’s main hobby at first, as he needed a little push from Coach Reynolds to introduce him to the sport.
“During my freshman year, Coach Reynolds was my soccer coach, and he was trying to recruit kids for the team,” he remembered. “I figured that, with nothing to do in the winter, I might as well join.”
As his CBA Bowling career comes to a close, Cavallo reflected on his favorite memories with the team, along with the lessons he learned.
“I honestly didn’t think I wanted to do bowling coming into CBA,” he said. “I wasn’t the coolest of sports at first, but trying something new, meeting new friends, and having fun is what it’s all about.”
Senior Bennet Cavallo’s dominance in the bowling alley will forever be remembered. His legacy as a bowler, who was pivotal to many successful seasons, will be cemented in the history of CBA Bowling.
