Head Varsity Swimming Coach

Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) is seeking a Head Varsity Swimming Coach to continue the prestigious tradition of excellence within the program. This stipend position reports directly to the Director of Athletics.

The ideal candidate is confident in teaching the technical, fundamental, and strategic aspects of swimming. They should be able to motivate and mentor student-athletes while embodying and promoting the mission of CBA. A minimum of three years of coaching experience is preferred, along with a strong desire to sustain and build upon the success of one of the most accomplished swimming programs in New Jersey state history.

Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to engage with administration, athletes, parents, and media. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of the program’s history, tradition, and achievements, and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining, expanding, and elevating that legacy.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the swimming program, including sub-varsity levels

  • Adhere to policies and procedures set by the NJSIAA, Shore Conference, CBA, and the Athletic Director

  • Conduct safe, structured, and fundamentals-based practices

  • Promote athletic development, supervise athletes, and ensure a positive experience for all participants

  • Maintain individual and team records, handle media relations, and promote accomplishments via social media and other outlets


  • Manage equipment inventory and recommend program improvements

  • Ensure athlete participation in strength and conditioning programs

  • Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, fostering personal growth, faith, and a spirit of service

Qualifications

  • Previous high school coaching experience (preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with student-athletes

  • Ability to remain professional in challenging or adverse situations

  • Advanced knowledge of swimming techniques and competition

  • Commitment to the comprehensive development of a successful program
