Head Coach - Varsity Crew

CBA is seeking a Head Varsity Crew coach to carry on the prestigious tradition of the program.  This stipend position reports to the Director of Athletics. Applicants should be willing and able to create and carry out training and guidance of athletes over the entire school year including pre-season summer months. Ideal candidates should have a strong foundation in rowing, developing training plans, race strategies and creating schedules for the entire Crew Program. Applicants should also have expertise in the area of maintaining, purchasing, rigging, and transporting boats. 

Applicants must have the ability to clearly communicate expectations of the team with administration, athletes, parents, and press.  Should have sufficient knowledge of program history, tradition and success and be comfortable with maintaining, expanding and elevating each.  Applicants should have a clear understanding of national body rules as well as CBA guidelines and principles for Coaches, Student-Athletes, and the Athletic Department as a whole. Applicants will also be expected to take part in special events associated with the Athletic Department, Alumni Association and Christian Brothers Academy. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Involvement with and coordination of all aspects of the Crew program, including sub-varsity levels.

  • Follow policies and procedures set for by Christian Brothers Academy and athletic director

  • To hold safe, structured, fundamental-based practices, facilitate athletic development, supervise and provide a positive experience for all student-athletes.

  • Maintain individual and team records, speak to the media, and promote individual and team accomplishments through various media outlets, including posting scores and using social media

  • Maintain current inventory of equipment and suggest future enhancements and improvements for the program

  • Budgeting for yearly expenses as well as creating a plan for long term capital expenditures.

  • Oversee that athletes are participating in strength and conditioning

  • Ability to mentor student-athletes, while emphasizing faith and service

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous high school coaching experience preferable

  • Proven ability to work cooperatively with student-athletes

  • Proven ability to act in a professional manner in adverse situations

  • Advanced knowledge of the sport

  • Willingness and desire to be involved in all aspects of building a successful program

Head Coach - Varsity Volleyball

CBA is seeking a Head Varsity Volleyball coach to carry on the prestigious tradition of the program.  This stipend position reports to the Director of Athletics.  Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of prior high school coaching experience in the sport and will have the desire to help sustain and continually build upon the success of one of the best Volleyball programs in state history.  

Interested candidates should be confident in teaching the technical, fundamental, and strategic aspects of the sport, as well as have the ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes, while emphasizing faith and service.  Must have the ability to clearly communicate expectations of the team with administration, athletes, parents, and press.  Should have sufficient knowledge of program history, tradition and success and be comfortable with maintaining, expanding and elevating each.  Applicants should be willing and able to create and carry out training and guidance of athletes over the entire NJSIAA season including pre-season. Applicants should have a clear understanding of NJSIAA rules as well as CBA guidelines and principles for Coaches, Student-Athletes and the Athletic Department as a whole. Athletic Trainer

The CBA Athletic Trainer provides for the prevention, care, and reconditioning of injuries incurred in the interscholastic athletic program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Masters degree preferred.
  • Must be certified as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Bureau of Certification.
  • Passed National Certification exam
  • Must be licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners as an Athletic Trainer
  • Must hold and maintain CPR/AED certification
  • Show evidence of successful experience in working with student athletes


Listed below are some of the major components of the position.  The list is not meant to be all encompassing, nor exclusive to the responsibilities listed.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers First Aid to injured students involved in all interscholastic athletic programs.
  • Applies protective or injury preventative devices such as adhesive strapping, taping, bandaging, padding, brace, etc.
  • Works cooperatively with school nurses and students’ physicians regarding reconditioning injured athletes.
  • Records all injuries/treatments and maintains files of each athlete.
  • Supplies fully equipped First Aid kits for each team.
  • Works cooperatively with all coaches in selecting protective equipment.
  • Supervises and maintains the athletic training room.
  • Prepares an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of all First Aid supplies..
  • Reports all serious injuries to the principal, school nurse, coach, and athletic director.
  • Reports all injuries to the school nurse and athletic director on a daily basis.
