As we turned to a new calendar year in 2026, the Colts continued their dominant stampede through the Shore Conference.
On January 7, CBA defeated rival Rumson-Fair Haven, 61–15, in a highly-anticipated wrestling tilt.
While the pre-match excitement did not live up to the limited on-mat action, the Colts once again showed why they sit at the top of the Shore Conference rankings.
The matchup carried significant hype entering the night, as CBA ranked number one in the Shore by the Asbury Park Press, while RFH was at number four. However, the tone of the dual shifted quickly when RFH forfeited six weight classes.
In the bouts that did take place, the Colts wasted no time taking control. Senior Jarred O’Neill set the tone with a first-period pin in just 19 seconds, immediately swinging momentum in CBA’s favor. Brendan Boyer followed with a third-period pin, while Bobby Duffy added to the highlight reel by pinning RFH’s Wyatt Fry, reinforcing his status as one of the Shore’s top wrestlers.
The win proved to be a nice jumping off point for many of these wrestlers, who traveled down to Richmond, Virginia just a few days later for the East Coast Catholic Classic.
The Colts tested themselves against elite out-of-state competition and came away with a second-place team finish.
One of the highlights of the weekend was at the 165-pound matchup, in which the finals featured an all-CBA matchup. Freshman Colton Quinn pinned Boyer in 1:28, claiming the tournament title. Quinn entered the tournament as the eighth seed, pulling off the upset in the quarterfinals before earning an 18-3 technical fall in the semifinals.
Junior Paul Kenny continued his great wrestling with an individual title at 126 pounds as well.
Sonny DiMatteo (120), Jimmy Jakub (157), Boyer (165), and Brock Oizerowitz (175) all finished second. Teag Saito (132) and Will Sakoutis (150) placed third, while Tristian Ziobro (150) took fourth place. Cael Dutton (138), Dylan Venet (175), and O’Neill (190) snatched fifth place.
