As the Shore Conference Tournament gets underway, CBA Soccer is eying a 14th title in program history. With wins in all of their Shore Conference Tournament pool play matchups, the Colts are the number seed and earned a first-round BYE.
“We’ve trained hard every practice with full intensity day after day,” junior Justin Arias said. “We’re prepared for whatever team we get drawn against and aren’t treating anything lightly. For the Seniors, it would be the first time most of them have won a title of any sort in their four years here, so we really want to get it done for them. I want to get the job done and help to play my role in getting us the title.”
Arias has been a key playmaker for CBA’s high-powered offense. On the season, he’s recorded seven assists, three of which came during the Colts’ 6-0 win at Howell.
“While at the lower levels I was the main guy scoring, I only have one goal this year. On the back of that, I have been assisting a lot,” Arias explained. “I enjoy providing and helping my teammates to succeed. To me, at the end of the day, whether I score or assist, it doesn’t matter. I want the team to succeed, and whatever my role is, I am willing to get it done.”
After beginning the season with two ties and one loss, CBA quickly recovered by tearing through their schedule. Although they did have two ties, the Colts also racked up 11 wins in a 13-game stretch, including winning nine consecutive games.
This streak helped them secure a division title with an 11-1-4 overall record, including 5-0-1 against Shore Conference opponents. CBA wrapped up the regular season with an impressive 3-2 win over Bergen Catholic, riding major momentum into postseason play.
The Colts look to build on this memorable season by adding another Shore Conference Title to CBA’s trophy case later this month.
