Christian Brothers Academy is pleased to announce that Brenin Ford ’11 has been named the new head coach of the varsity crew program.

Ford’s promotion comes after a successful school year as the interim head coach in 2021-2022. He previously served as an assistant coach under former head coach Scott Belford. He has been an integral member of the CBA coaching staff since 2017, and last year, Coach Ford led the team to one of its most successful seasons to date.

During the past year, CBA Crew remained as one of the premier high school programs in New Jersey. Most notably, CBA took home two race wins at the Stotesbury Cup. The Colts’ JV4+ and Varsity Lightweight 4+ boats, both undefeated last spring, brought home the George Mattson Trophy, the Bill Belden Cup, and a boatload of gold medals with two first place finishes.

The team continued its excellent rowing at the Scholastic Rowing National Championships, where CBA won the Men’s Junior Four race. Two boats won state titles - the Senior 4 and Junior 4 - at the Garden State Championships as well.

Earlier last fall, CBA returned to the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Massachusetts, where all three boats finished in the top-25, which qualified CBA for this October’s regatta.

Ford’s value to the program goes beyond coaching and often includes driving the trailer, repairing boats, launches, oars, trailers, as well as working to grow our CBA alumni crew network.

Coach Ford will be joined by returning assistant coaches Isabella Corriere, Michael Sparta, Mike Lehman, and Joe Wawrzynski ‘11. The program will be adding one new assistant coach, Josh Prown ’07.
