Christian Brothers Academy Athletics earned its seventh consecutive - and 13th overall - ShopRite Cup for best Non-Public program in 2022, as announced by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).

The Colts were by far the top school in the Non-Public A section, earning 187 points in state tournaments this past school year. Second place Newark Academy earned 129 points.

"It truly is an honor for CBA to win another ShopRite Cup," said Director of Athletics Michael Mazzaccaro '11 "This award is not about any individual athlete or program, but rather the summation of the hard work and dedication that every one of our players and coaches put into their sport. Coming off of two very difficult years, it is amazing to see that CBA student-athletes continue to rise to the occasion and achieve excellence both inside and outside of the classroom."

It is the seventh straight ShopRite Cup win for CBA, but first since 2019-2020 as the award was not presented during the COVID-affected 2020-2021 year.

Christian Brothers won the inaugural Cup in 2004, subsequently earning top honors in 13 of the 18 years that the award has been presented.

In 2021-2022, CBA won state championships in ice hockey and indoor track relays. The Colts finished as state finalists in six sports: cross country, soccer, indoor track overall, swimming, wrestling, and outdoor track. Three more sports were state semifinalists: baseball, golf and tennis.

Those programs account for 10 of CBA's 15 NJSIAA-sanctioned sports. Crew, rugby and sailing have independent governing bodies.

CBA's 13 ShopRite Cups are a state-wide record between all public and non-public sections.
