CBA Athletics | 12/6/2017

Four Christian Brothers Academy soccer players were recognized by one or more leading New Jersey sports publications over the past week.

The Colts were represented on the all-area teams from NJ.com, Asbury Park Press and Shore Sports Network.

Shane Keenan, John Askin and Dom Bellomo were named to one of NJ.com's three teams. Keenan, the senior goalie, was selected for all-state first team after helping CBA set a program record with 16 shutouts this season.

Askin, a senior defenseman and all-state second team selection, was the unquestioned leader of the Colts as the lone returning starter and helped anchor the defense with Keenan. Bellomo, a junior midfielder and all-state third team pick, burst onto the scene this season, notching nine goals and five assists.

Keenan, Askin and Bellomo were also all named to both the Asbury Park Press and Shore Sports Network's all-shore first teams.

Junior defenseman Jack Hempstead was picked for Shore Sports Network's all-shore second team, who was highlighted for his ability to move the ball up the field from the defensive end, recording three assists this year.

Christian Brothers finished the season as state finalists for the third straight year. They were ranked 12th on the east coast by Top Drawer Soccer, a leading national scholastic publication. The Colts also were 10th in New Jersey by NJ.com and 2nd in the Shore power rankings by Shore Sports Network.

Keenan was also selected to play in the High School All-American game in Orlando.
