Five members of the Christian Brothers Academy sailing team were honored as all-state performers by the New Jersey Interscholastic Sailing Association on Wednesday.

Senior captain Joe LaForgia and junior Michael Ehnot were named to the all-state skipper first team for the second consecutive year. Both LaForgia and Ehnot were instrumental in helping CBA qualify for the National Championship, leading the Colts to a second place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Championship.

Senior captain Chris Magno was named to the all-state skipper second team after serving as the Colts' third skipper. Magno was a key swing player for CBA, being able to both skipper and crew when needed.

Sophomore Ryan Mullins was named the 2017 New Jersey Crew of the Year, the highest honor for the high school crew position. Paired with Ehnot for most of the year, the duo won their division at the Mid-Atlantic Championship to qualify for Nationals. This is the second consecutive year that CBA has won Crew of the Year, after Magno won the award in 2016.

Both Mullins and sophomore Justin Modin were tabbed as all-state crew first team sailors. Modin served as LaForgia's crew for much of the year and was on the National Championship qualifying team.

Overall, Christian Brothers' five all-state spots were the most among any school in New Jersey, the second straight year the Colts have taken the most honors.
