Tad Lundborg '17 was selected to the men's Epee All-State Second Team, as announced by the New Jersey Interscholastic Fencing Association at the end of last week.

Lundborg's consistent top finishes in the Cetrulo Tournament, Districts, State Squad and Individual Tournaments made his selection an obvious one.

His most impressive accomplishments came during the District Tournaments. In the District Individuals, Lundborg was crowned champion in the Epee division. Meanwhile, Lundborg, with teammates Tom Gana and Ryan Hagan, won the District Squad Championship, as he fenced in the A strip for the Colts. The District Epee Squad title was the first in CBA Fencing's history.

Using his momentum from the Districts, Lundborg advanced all the way to the final round of the NJSIAA Individual Tournament in late February. He finished the season with the fourth most overall points in New Jersey.

This is the fourth selection to an all-state team for Colts Fencing. John Vaiani '14 earned first team foil honors in 2013 and 2014, while Antonio Fuda '14 was selected to the epee third team in 2013.

"This is a great accomplishment for our entire team and we are very proud of Tad," head coach Mary Mottola said. "He does all of the right things to not only excel in the sport as an individual, but as epee squad captain, he also helped his teammates advance further than any other previous CBA squad."
