The Colts finished the regular season much like they started it: with a big win.

On Senior Night, CBA captured a 57-51 victory over Manasquan, wrapping up the regular season with a 19-3 record – including a perfect 11-0 in the Shore Conference.

“We just really locked down our defensive principles. We know that defense is the key to winning our games. So, we locked down on defense, and we were able to turn that into offense,” Senior Captain Connor Andree explained after the Manasquan game on the CBA Digital Network.

Ranked fourth in NJ.com’s Top 20 on February 10, the team challenged itself with non-conference opponents, but took care of business against Shore foes. The Colts had some pivotal wins, including against Roselle Catholic and Linden, the fifth and eighth-ranked teams in NJ.com.

Additionally, the Colts had a 13-point comeback victory against Red Bank Catholic in the ninth annual Founder’s Cup game. The team’s success has earned them the number one overall seed in the Shore Conference Tournament. Christian Brothers was a perfect 11-0 against conference opponents.

“We know we’re a battle-tested team and we’re able to pull games out when it gets close,” Andree continued. “That’s something we don’t think a lot of other Shore teams have expertise in. We know that we’re good at that and we know we’re able to do that when it really matters.”

Andree led all scorers with 24 points on Senior Night against Manasquan, saving one of his best games of the season for a special day.

“I have been able to watch all of my guys the last four years participate in Senior Night,” he said. “I’ve just been waiting for my chance. It’s good to have Senior Night and be able to have a good game during it.”

In addition to Andree, junior Avery Lynch and sophomore Izayah Cooper have been bright spots for the Colts. On the season, Cooper and Lynch are both averaging 13 points per game. Cooper has manned the point guard position, leading the Colts with five assists per game. Lynch and Andree contribute a solid five rebounds per game.

For seniors Andree, Charlie Marcoullier, Charlie Messano and Matt Veisz, they are looking to finish the job after falling just short in the Shore Conference title game last season.

While CBA already holds the record for most Shore Conference Tournament trophies, the Colts will look to secure a 17th conference championship later this month.
