Christian Brothers Academy Sailing doubled up on some early season success at the Spring Open Regatta on March 26.

The Colts took first and second place in the 14-team event, a feat that is a rarity in high school sailing.

The accomplishment shows the depth of the CBA roster, with a senior-led team winning the regatta and a junior-led team not far behind in second.

Senior Ryan Ehnot, with sophomore crew Mitchell Hnatt, won the A Division to lead the way for the first place team. Ehnot and Hnatt won five of their seven races on the day. In B Division, senior Colin Guerrera and junior Nicholas Cuhna finished third.

Junior Noah Kuzloski and freshman crew Kyle Lombardino topped B Division, notching five top-three finishes in the seven races. In A Division, junior Bryce Vitiello and sophomore Luke Pennisi finished third, winning the only two races that Ehnot did not win.

A week earlier, both CBA teams finished second and third at the Icebreaker Regatta.

It is a start of a lengthy spring regatta schedule for the Colts. They are headed to a multi-regional regatta on April 2 at SUNY Maritime in the Bronx, before returning to Toms River for the BBYRA Invitational on April 9.

Championship regattas include the league championship on April 23, the district championship on May 14, and the state championship on May 21.
