The 2021 golf season has started much like the 2019 season had ended - with Christian Brothers Academy on top of the leaderboard.

After the pandemic canceled the 2020 golf season, the Colts defended their two-year-old wins at both the Monmouth County and Shore Conference Championships in consecutive weeks.

On April 21, Junior Ethan Lee earned the individual Monmouth County victory with a one-over-par 73 and a playoff hole win. Lee birdied the first playoff hole to secure the tournament against Marlboro’s Arjun Malik. CBA won the tournament with a four-man total of 304.

Senior Chris Konefal missed the playoff by just one shot and finished third overall. Joey Giamanco posted a 77 and Wyatt Slagle an 80 to complete CBA's scoring foursome.

“It’s been a blessing just to be able to get out,” head coach Tim Sewnig told the Asbury Park Press. “We didn’t care about win lose or draw today, enjoy the beautiful weather, enjoy the beautiful course, you’re doing something you [love] and you don’t have to go to school today. How great is that? Everything else is gravy. The pandemic has put things in perspective.”

On April 28, the Colts continued their good play, winning the Shore Conference by seven strokes over Wall Township. Lee won his second individual crown in two weeks by posting a 3-under-par 69 to win by five shots. Gianmanco finished as the conference individual runner-up.

It is the seventh consecutive conference championship for CBA. The Colts will now prepare for the NJSIAA Sectional Tournament on May 10.
