While regular season baseball at Christian Brothers Academy is still over a month away, past Colts standouts are ready to step on to the field as part of Division I college baseball's opening weekend.

Eleven CBA alumni are on Division I rosters across the country to begin the 2017 season, with many set to make an immediate impact on this weekend's games.

Last season, Luca Dalatri '16 set the Shore Conference record for most wins in a career (35) and helped propel CBA to both the Monmouth County and Shore Conference Championships. Now, Dalatri is set to start this Sunday as his University of North Carolina Tar Heels host the University of Kentucky. The freshman Dalatri, who is flanked by two junior standouts in the weekend rotation, will waste no time showing those in Chapel Hill what Colts fans enjoyed for the past few seasons.

The CBA Class of 2013 features two opening weekend starters. Wake Forest University's John McCarren will get the ball on Sunday as the Demon Deacons are in Houston to face Nicholls University. Now a senior at Wake, he went 7-3 with a 3.66 ERA in 2016. McCarron threw a no-hitter as a senior for CBA in 2013, one of six Colts ever to accomplish that feat.

The other 2013 standout getting a start this weekend is Matt Pidich, who will pitch for the first time since 2015 in University of Pittsburgh's opener against University of Delaware. Pidich has been sidelined with an injury for the last year plus, but played a role in Pittsburgh's bullpen in 2015.

The College of Holy Cross' Anthony Critelli '13 was named Preseason Player of the Year by the Patriot League. Critelli led Holy Cross with nine home runs and 41 RBIs in 2016, when he was named first team all-Patriot League. The Holmdel, New Jersey native will start at first base for Crusaders.

Both Mike Caputo '13 and Ryan Ramiz '14 will figure into Seton Hall University's lineup this season. Caputo started 41 games for the Pirates last season, notching a .258 average and 25 RBIs. Ramiz started 55 games in the outfield for Seton Hall in 2016, with a .275 average and 15 stolen bases.

A pair of sophomores in Monmouth University's Pete Papcun '15 and Old Dominion University's Will Morgan '15 look to capitalize on promising freshmen campaigns. Papcun saw action in 23 games and made eight starts, while Morgan started 22 games and posted eight RBIs.

Finally, three more members of the Class of 2016 will don their college jerseys for the first time this weekend. Brandon Martorano ended his CBA career as one of the best hitters in Colts history, ranking top 10 all-time in both home runs and triples. Martorano, alongside teammate Dalatri, is a part of the North Carolina freshmen class that is ranked second in Division I.

Lafayette College's Kenny Campbell '16 will start the year as a right handed pitcher in the Leopards' bullpen, but may factor in to the starting rotation down the road in 2017. Brendan Galvin '16, a catcher and designated hitter for CBA, begins his first season with Princeton University.

The Christian Brothers baseball season will begin on April 1st, when the Colts host Brick Memorial.
