After another stellar season for Christian Brothers Academy Crew, a special recognition goes to the Varsity 4 squad for being named CBA Digital Network’s Boat of the Fall.
Rowers Kieran Feeney ‘26, Andrew Yachmetz ‘26, Christian Johnson ‘26, Jack O’Connor ‘27, and coxswain Amani Borders ‘26 turned in impressive results during the fall campaign.
“Our boat this year is composed of a lot of people who were together last year, so this boat has been in the works for a long time,” O’Connor said.
They started the season in Hartford, Connecticut for the Head of the Riverfront. The regatta hosted the top talents from both the New England and Mid-Atlantic region. The team took sixth out of 38 boats, opening the season with a confidence-building finish.
The Colts then packed their bags and headed out to Philadelphia for the Navy Day Regatta, but what should have been a warm-up for the Head of the Charles was ultimately blown out due to weather.
Shipping up to Boston in mid-October, CBA’s Varsity 4 still felt well prepared to face the ultimate showcase on the Charles River. The Head of the Charles is a world-renowned regatta that showcases national and international talents at the high school, college and adult levels.
“This was the event that we work towards every day. We have all the talent to succeed, but it all comes down to execution,” Borders said.
They executed their game plan nicely, finishing a strong 17th in a loaded 86-boat fleet.
“We came into the event with high hopes, gave it our all, and we had a whole lot of fun through the process,” Feeney said about the Head of the Charles.
The season was coming to an end, but there was still more work to be done as the calendar turned to November. The Varsity 4 grabbed their first win of the season at the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta in a dominant fashion. Just a day later, they finished second at the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta.
It is safe to say that they ended the season on a hot streak, building momentum and motivation for their winter training and the spring racing schedule. These Colts will return to the water in March for their spring season.
