An undefeated season takes a full team effort. For CBA Rugby, 20-straight match wins, four regular season tournament victories, and a state championship is an impressive feat.

Although the team battled through various injuries, several Colts stand out as potential players of the season.

None stayed more consistent than the 2025 CBA Digital Network Player of the Season, senior captain Jordan Young.

Young had a season for the history books, leading the Colts to a second straight sevens state championship.

His performances propelled the Colts to wins on the road at Morris, Union, and St. Augustine, as well as CBA’s own tournament. In the home tournament, Young scored a hat trick in each half of the title match against St. Augustine. The Colts ultimately won the match, 19-10.

“My coaches and teammates were a big part of my success,” Young said. “Especially our coaches, pushing us to the highest standard day in and day out. Even with all the setbacks, I wouldn't be the same without them.”

Head Coach Pat Moroney knows that the Colts would not be the same without Young leading the charge.

“Jordon had an exceptional season, leading from the front with aggressive carries and tackling,” Moroney said. “He holds the athletes around him accountable and genuinely makes the team better with his intensity and desire for everyone to improve. His contribution to the historic undefeated sevens season can not be underestimated.”

It takes a tight-knit team to go undefeated and win a state title. Young credits the bond between teammates as a major factor in their play this season.

“Our pregame ritual is we all get in the huddle and the captains will say something that means a lot to everybody,” Young said. “In that huddle, we’re all brothers. We are all playing for each other, we are all one. Those moments really mean something to me.”

With his senior fall sevens season behind him, Young looks to keep his team’s momentum going into the spring. The Colts will open spring 15s play in March.
