For the first time since 2015, Christian Brothers Academy Baseball won the state south sectional bracket - using an offensive outburst to clinch the title.

In the sectional championship, CBA put up eight runs in the first inning and never looked back, defeating Red Bank Catholic, 11-1, in five innings.

The first inning was emphasized by a bases-clearing double by Dylan Reynholds, who was one of four players with one or more RBIs.

In the fourth, Danny Russo hit a three-run homer to push the lead to 10 runs, before Shane Langan struck out the side with the bases loaded to end the game early.

Dylan Iwyank picked up the win on the mound, going four innings with just one earned run and nine strikeouts.

It is the eighth state sectional title in program history.

Overall, CBA finished with a 22-5 record, falling just short in the state title game. The Colts played Don Bosco into extra innings - and into the next day after a late night suspension - but fell 5-4 in 11 innings.

CBA also picked up its 21st division title in 2025.
