Christian Brothers Academy Cross Country has had decades worth of terrific seasons. The 2023 campaign will rank as one of the best.

The Colts won every major invitational or championship meet, ultimately earning a trip to Nike Cross Nationals and finishing a strong sixth overall on December 2 in Portland, Oregon.

CBA's 12th consecutive trip to the Nike Nationals came on the heels of winning the Nike Cross Regionals a week earlier.

On November 25, senior Conor Clifford (sixth) and junior Joe Barrett (seventh) paced the Colts' winning effort at Regionals in Wappingers Falls, New York. All five scorers finished in the top 22 of the race to win by 10 points over Westfield High School.

It marks the second straight win and eighth overall at the Nike Cross Regionals.

Ahead of the Regionals, CBA extended its state record of most NJ All-Groups titles with a 26th Meet of Champions victory.

Barrett became just the third CBA runner to be crowned the individual MOC champion, running the Holmdel Park course in 15:27.

All five CBA scorers ran in the top 12 of the race, earning an average of 15:55.9. The team won by an astounding 36 points over Westfield.

"To think that only two other people have won MOC [from CBA], it makes winning extra special and makes me realize how lucky I am to be in a situation where both my teammates and coaches have set me up for success," Barrett said. "Not only does winning make me excited for the future, but it also has made me realize that I need to work even harder to win the title again next year."

Putting a bow on the season, Christian Brothers also won the Non-Public A State Championship, the Eastern States Championship at the Manhattan Invitational, the Shore Conference Championship, the Monmouth County Championship, and the Bowdoin Classic.
