Christian Brothers Academy Soccer has won back-to-back Shore Conference Championships on three different occasions, but never have the Colts won three straight in program history.

Until now.

The Colts captured that third conference crown on October 21 when they defeated Howell, 2-0, in the tournament final.

“One of the goals coming into this season was to be the first CBA soccer team to ever win three consecutive Shore Conference tournaments, so we set the bar pretty high,” head coach Tom Mulligan told NJ.com after the game.

In a tightly-contested game, Christian Brothers emerged with the decisive goals.

John Gambale found the back of the net nearly 20 minutes into the first half, thanks to an assist by Lawrence Mancino.

While CBA controlled possession for most of the game, it was not until midway through the second half that Brayden Perry scored CBA's insurance goal.

After a late regular season road bump in a loss to Middletown South, the Colts found their groove in the Shore Conference Tournament. CBA defeated Jackson Memorial, Marlboro and Middletown North leading up to the final against Howell.

It has been a defensive-minded postseason for CBA, winning each game by just one goal leading up to the conference championship.

"We’re sort of like a heavyweight prize fighter that feels out the other team a bit and we’ve even come from behind a few times this year,” Mulligan continued in his NJ.com interview.

Christian Brothers hopes to remain out in front when the Non-Public A State Tournament begins on October 31.
