Christian Brothers Academy track & field head coach Karl Torchia was named the Northeast Regional Coach of the Year for the 2019 outdoor track & field season, as announced by the National Federation for High Schools.

Torchia led the Colts to a tremendous spring 2019 season, which included championships at the Monmouth County, state sectional and state meets. It was CBA's fourth straight outdoor state championship.

In addition, the 4xMile foursome won the national title at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in North Carolina.

These spring feats wrapped up a school year that included the true state "sweep" of running titles, which included the cross country, indoor track relays, indoor track overall and outdoor track state championships.

The Northeast Regional Coach of the Year award included teams from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Torchia has coached track & field at CBA since 2001.
