Five Fall Sports Ready to Get Seasons Underway

With a new school year dawning at Christian Brothers Academy, the fall Colts are set to return to action this week for another highly-anticipated autumn season.

Last fall, CBA Crew capped off the season with a Varsity 4 win at the Bill Braxton Regatta in late October. Before that, the Colts posted multiple division wins at the Head of the Christina and the Navy Day Regatta. Their fall racing season gets underway at the beginning of October.

CROSS COUNTRY
Season Opener: Tuesday, September 10th vs. Freehold Boro & Middletown South

CBA XC had another banner year in 2018, with a sweep of all major title meets that they competed in. The Colts won the Monmouth County, Shore Conference, Non-Public A State, Meet of Champions, and Nike Northeast Regional. Their win at the Regional earned them their ninth straight appearance at the Nike Cross Nationals in Oregon. They were the NJ.com Team of the Year in 2018.

Heading into 2019, their national dual meet record currently stands at 364 straight victories.


RUGBY

CBA Rugby continued their solid play as one of the top teams in the state during last fall's sevens season. They reached the semifinal of the NJ Sevens League tournament once again, while also hosting a sevens tournament day for the fifth consecutive season. They will face their usual slate of sevens opponents this fall, highlighted by a matches with rival St. Augustine.


SAILING
Season Opener: Saturday, September 7th at Toms River Sailfest Regatta

The sailing team will hit the water on Saturday for the annual Sailfest Regatta, which CBA has won a record three times in 12 years. Last fall, their season was highlighted by a top-10 finish at the Coast Guard National Invitational in Connecticut, as well as a division win at the Mid-Atlantic Invitational. They finished last year ranked fifth in the state.


SOCCER
Season Opener: Wednesday, September 4th vs. Delran High School

The Colts return as defending state champions after beating Delbarton in one of the most memorable state finals in CBA history. To get to the state championship, CBA won its fourth straight South Jersey Sectional over St. Augustine. They were also Class A North division winners and posted a 19-4 record. CBA will face Delran and Washington Township to kick-off the season, before starting conference play next week against Howell.
