Crew Takes Three Top Spots at Season Opener

The Christian Brothers Academy crew team kicked off the fall season with a tremendous showing at the Head of the Christina, notching three first place finishes on Sunday in Wilmington, Delaware.

The regatta is approximately a 4000 meter race and draws crews from Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Colts Varsity 4 first team won their race by 33 seconds (13:54.7) over second place Bishop O'Connell (14:27.5). The Varsity 4 boat consisted of senior coxswain Alex Mayo and junior rowers Erik Wicks, Bryan Hampton, Logan Lukenda and Riley Guerrera (seen right). The second and third Varsity 4 teams finished sixth (14:45.8) and ninth (14:54.1), out of 17 crews.

The Varsity 8 event also saw success, recording first place (14:18.0) and fourth place (15:10.9) finishes. The Varsity 8 winner won by 33 seconds over second place St. Augustine (14:50.4).

Meanwhile in the JV 8 event, Christian Brothers also placed first with a time of 14:24.6, besting nine other crews for the win.

CBA will return to the water on October 15th when the Colts travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Navy Day Regatta.
