For the second consecutive year, Christian Brothers Academy Sailing has a national championship qualifier.

Michael Ehnot '18 finished third in the Mid-Atlantic District Championship over the weekend, qualifying for the 2016 Cressy Interscholastic Singlehanded National Championship.

In the Laser Radial division of 31 boats, Ehnot remained top five throughout the two-day, 12-race series, experiencing wind conditions that ranged from light and variable to 12-18 mph. Ehnot finished Sunday strong, with three straight top-three finishes, to solidify third place overall.

Ehnot faced sailors from schools from New York down to Virginia, with first and second place hailing from South River and Severn, Maryland, making Ehnot the top New Jersey finisher as well.

The national championship will be held in Galveston, Texas on the weekend of October 28-30. Ehnot will be matched up against 17 of the best singlehanded sailors from across the seven high school sailing districts in the country.

When Ehnot qualified for the 2015 championship, he became just the second CBA sailor to advance to the singlehanded nationals, with the other qualifier coming back in 2005.

Joe LaForgia '17 also sailed for CBA in the event, finishing fourth in his Laser Full division and narrowly missing qualification for the nationals.
