Jason Lutz

Jason Lutz is in his ninth year as a varsity sailing coach at CBA in 2023-24.

During his time as a CBA coach, the Colts have continued to make their mark as the top sailing program in the state. In his first year as a coach, CBA won the 2016 state championship, which was the second title in program history. In 2017, the Colts qualified for the High School Doublehanded National Championship for the first time in team history. CBA Sailing has won four league championships - including the 2023 spring season, multiple invitational regattas, and finished in the top five in every state championship with Lutz as coach. CBA has also had three Singlehanded National Championship qualifiers, three New Jersey High School Sailor of the Year winners, and 31 all-state selections during his time as coach.

A graduate of CBA and the College of Charleston, Lutz has been coaching sailing for the last 13 years. He was the head coach of Academic Magnet High School from 2012-2015, where he guided the Charleston-based school to two state championships in three years. He previously served as the head racing coach for Bay Head Yacht Club and remains active in local, regional and national sailing and coaching. Currently, he serves as Mid-Atlantic representative to the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) National Board, as well as the Assistant Director of the New Jersey Interscholastic Sailing Association (NJISA), which governs high school sailing in the state.
